Robert Ivy is a man of many talents. Ivy has a Masters Degree in Architecture from Tulane University and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Sewanee in Tennessee. After college he started Robert Ivy’s career move as a principal and a critic for publications here in the United States.

Later Ivy became the Editor In Chief of Architectural Record; a publication that focuses on top architects, their work, and the latest news. Robert Ivy later put he sights on McGraw-Hill Construction Media. Here at McGraw-Hill, Ivy was the top leader possessing the position of Vice President and Editorial Director. He has been an editorial driving force behind many publications in the architectural field.

Robert Ivy is currently the Chief Executive Officer and Executive Vice President of American Institute of Architects. This year he will be bestowed with an award outlining his accomplishments presented by the Mississippi Institute of Arts and Letters. As a Mississippian and a patron of the arts; Ivy will join a long line of great award winning honorees.

He will be the first architect to receive the Polk Award; which is typically given to actors, writers, artists, and singers. This prestigious award is generally given to Mississippi residents or native residents that are great contributors and well connected in the art industry. The award is truly a great honor and of high importance to the recipient.

Besides the Polk Lifetime Achievement Award, Ivy has received other accolades. He is the Master Architect, a designation bestowed unto him the National Architecture Fraternity (Alpha Rho Chi). He is a proud owner of the 2017 Dean’s Medal from the University of Arkansas, and a host of other awards. The official Mississippi Arts and Letters ceremony for the Lifetime Award will be held on June 2.
